Four things you stop doing on Thursday
- Counting heads. The list opens at the same time every week and fills itself. Everyone after the twelfth queues in order, so nobody has to ask you who was first, and there is only ever one version of the list.
- Being the bad guy. Captains draft live, in turn, with the pick order drawn at random if you want it. The teams happen to everyone at once, in front of everyone. There’s no lineup with your name on it.
- Chasing $12. Put in what the pitch cost and everyone sees their share. Afterwards you get a paid and unpaid list. You still collect it however you do now. The app never touches the money.
- Keeping score of people. Who confirmed, who dropped late, who didn’t turn up. Recorded against them, so it isn’t carried around by you.
Then the strange part: they start chasing you.
A game with no memory is just exercise. Give it a record and people start moving things around to be there.
